Necessity for the woods

As a woods / adventure rider, I found the slick soles of typical motocross boots to be a major shortcoming. These boots offer the fantastic quality and protection Alpinestars are known for, and incorporate a lugged sole which makes it much easier to deal with the mud and slick terrain in our area. I am shocked there are not more offerings of this type. The only other boot I could find which does not have slick soles are the Fox Comp 5. While slightly less expensive, after trying on the slick-soled version of both the Tech 3 and the Comp 5 at a local shop, I felt the Alpinestars offer much better ankle protection.

Great Value and Very Durable

I have a two year old pair of these boots and just purchased this pair for my son. The Tech 3 is well made and really holds up to abuse. We ride dirt bikes in the woods and the lugged soles are essential for traction. My only criticism is that the thick plastic on the bottom sides does not break in enough, so they are a bit stiff. I wish they had a relief notch (V cut in plastic to allow flex) on both sides of the boot rather than just one. Otherwise a very good boot.
